Diagnosing Tinnitus
If your health professional suspects that you have tinnitus, any or all of the following may
be recommended:
- A complete medical history and physical exam to evaluate
the nature of the tinnitus, the degree of distress it's
causing, associated symptoms, and any factors that may be
contributing to the symptoms (such as medications you're
taking or aspects of your occupation or lifestyle).
- A hearing test (audiogram) to identify any
hearing loss.
- Additional tests, such as a CT scan or an MRI, may be necessary in some cases.
