Diagnosis

Angiography

Angiography, a procedure that takes x-ray images of the inside of your blood vessels, is part of your stenting treatment. In angiography, we insert a catheter into the femoral artery in your upper thigh or groin. We then inject a contrast dye into your arteries. This allows us to view any blockages or obstructions in the arteries of your heart. The procedure produces an image called an angiogram.

We use angiograms (also called arteriograms) to find the source of your condition and the extent of damage. This information helps the doctors determine the best treatment for your condition.

Angiography can be a treatment or a diagnostic tool. Angiography is used as a treatment by inserting a balloon and/or stent through the catheter. This is called balloon angioplasty.
