Cardiac Catheterization

Instructions to be Followed Before Your Cardiac Catheterization

The night before your procedure:

Bath or shower with soap. Wash the area between your bellybutton and knees thoroughly.
If groin hair is present, shave both sides of groin.
Eat anything you would like for dinner.
Do not eat or drink after the designated time.
Plan to arrive at the designated time so the procedure can proceed as scheduled.
If you'll be staying overnight, pack a bag with a change of clothes.
Bring your favorite toy, blanket, books or music. CDs are permitted in the cath lab.
Relax.
