Research

  • Establishing the validity, reliability and sensitivity of muscle function related outcome measures
  • Establishing the Natural history of various NMD’s including DMD, FSHD, MTD, and IBM
  • Establishing the Genotype-Phenotype correlations in patients with FSHD MTD and Non-Dystrophic Myotonias

    Current research includes:

  • Therapeutic trials in DMD, FSHD, MTD, ALS and MG.
  • Quality of life in patients with NMD.
  • Burden of Disease and Burden of Care in patients with NMD

Academic Activity

  • Participating in the Neuromuscular Disease conferences for Neurology residents to provide a perspective on the role of rehabilitation and physical therapy in the management of patients with Neuromuscular Disease.
  • Providing consultation and guidance to physical therapists in the upstate New York area regarding care of patients with Neuromuscular Diseases.
  • Guest lectures to Physical Therapy students in the Ithaca College and Nazareth College Physical Therapy programs regarding Adult and Pediatric Neuromuscular Diseases.
