Dr. Rempe received a five-year NIH-Mentored Clinical Scientist Development Award for studies of the role of hypoxia inducible factor-1 alpha in stroke.

His research interests involve understanding the adaptive and pathological responses of the brain to periods of hypoxia and ischemia as observed during stroke.
