  • Investigation into the cause for muscle wasting and weakness in myotonic dystrophy and related disorders
  • Investigations to study SomatoKine in patients with myotonic muscular dystrophy
  • Study of the long term effects of corticosteroid treatment in Duchenne muscular dystrophy
  • An investigation of mexiletine, a medication that relaxes the muscle stiffness (myotonia) in patients with myotonic dystrophy.and other myotonic disorders

Academic Activity

  • Periodically serves as a general neurology consult and inpatient attending in Neuromuscular services; during these times, Dr. Moxley provides teaching conferences for medical students and residents and serves as a facilitator during problem-based learning for 2nd year students;
  • Provides periodic staffing support supervising residents in the General Neurology Clinic;
  • Lectures to medical students on neuromuscular disease in their 2nd year classes on neurology.
