If You Think You're Having a Stroke... Call 9-1-1
Here are the common symptoms of stroke:
- Numbness or tingling in the face,
arm or leg (especially on one side of the body)
- Difficulty walking, loss of balance, and dizziness
- Inability or difficulty speaking and understanding
- Severe headache
- Visual problems in one or both eyes
- Confusion/judgment problems
- Loss of consciousness
If you or a loved one has these symptoms, call 911.
If you've had these symptoms, make sure to tell your doctor.

their families,
focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular
disease, including:
We also participate in research to discover improved treatments
and lower the incidence of stroke and cerebrovascular disease.

Our Team
Our specialists include neurologists, a neurosurgeon who specializes
in cerebrovascular surgery, and the region’s only interventional
radiologists. Together, this team offers patients a full range
of treatments, from the latest clot-dissolving drugs to innovative
surgical procedures to advanced radiologic techniques.
The Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center also features nurses, social
workers, physical,
occupational, and speech therapists who are focused on working
with patients and their families toward the best outcome.

To Schedule an Appointment
To schedule an appointment or to speak with one of our neurologists,
please call 585-275-2530.
The Department of Neurology participates with Blue Choice, Preferred Care, Medicare,
Medicaid, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rochester health plans. We accept cash
or check only for all applicable co-payments and personal balances due at the
time of service. If you must cancel your appointment, please do so at least 24
hours in advance. You will be charged a $25.00 fee if you miss an appointment.
Referrals
Most patients are referred to the center by their primary care
physician.
