Optical Shop

The University of Rochester Eye Institute now features a
full-service optical shop convenient to patients, employees
(and their immediate family members) and students of the
University of Rochester. We invite you to browse our
extensive collection that includes the latest frames from
fashion designers, sunglasses and affordable
everyday eyewear.

Optical Services

The optical shop has an experienced staff led by senior
optician Tom Scalzo. No matter what your prescription
is, Tom has the expertise and patience to help you
select the correct lenses and provide the proper fitting
to ensure that your vision is the best it can be. We
proudly represent some of the finest lenses and
lens coatings in the industry:

Insurance

The optical shop at UREI accepts major local insurance carriers including Blue Choice, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Preferred Care and Aetna. Many times these plans have yearly vision benefits and include every day provider discounts of up to 20 percent that you can apply to the cost of your purchase. Our staff will be glad to assist you in determining if you have a current vision benefit and how much it's worth.

Location

Our office is conveninently located in the University of Rochester Eye Institute at 210 Crittenden Boulevard on the south side of the University of Rochester Medical Center. Free curbside parking is available provided you call ahead and schedule an appointment.

Hours of Operation

The optical shop is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. except for University holidays. Walk-ins are welcome and appointments are glady accepted.

We currently offer employees of the University of Rochester, their spouses and immediate family members (such as dependent children) and University students a generous discount off the cost of eyewear.
