Facilities
Strong Health offers some of the most advanced surgical facilities in the nation and an innovative approach to patient care. Among the most important innovations may be our almost routine use of minimally invasive surgery.
Technology and Equipment
Our surgeons are among the nation’s leaders in pioneering and practicing laparoscopic (minimally invasive) donor nephrectomy (surgery to remove a living donor’s kidney).
In traditional surgery, the incisions are large enough for the surgeon’s hands to enter the patient’s body and manipulate the instruments. In minimally invasive surgery, the surgeon’s hands never enter the patient’s body. Tiny incisions are made, through which equally tiny instruments and mind-cameras are inserted. The surgeons manipulate the instruments from outside the body, viewing the procedure on video monitors. Compared to traditional surgery, minimally invasive surgery leads to faster recovery, less post-operative pain and significantly smaller scars.
