Endoscopic Vein Surgery
If you have severe leg ulcers, we will perform this minimally invasive laparoscopic treatment (link to laparoscopy/minimally invasive surgery). The procedure takes 1-2 hours and can be done under spinal, epidural, or general anesthesia. We use a skinny video camera to see inside your veins. Then we gently remove the varicose veins through small incisions. In this minimally-invasive procedure, we avoid “stripping” the veins, because vein stripping causes more discomfort after surgery.
You will wear a soft dressing on the leg for the three days following your surgery. You should also keep activity to a minimum for the two days after the operation. Slowly increase your activity over the next month. And you may go back to work in a week or two, depending on your type of employment.
