Strong Heart and Vascular Center

Division of Vascular Surgery

The Strong Heart and Vascular Center's vascular service is pioneering new and innovative methods to diagnose and treat vascular disease. Advanced digital angiographic imaging capabilities and three-dimensional computed tomography (CT) scans help our vascular surgeons provide precise diagnoses that guide the application of specific, minimally invasive treatments, including:

  • Internal Stents -Well established techniques of balloon angioplsty, which restore blood flow in blocked arteries, are supplemented by newly developed internal stents to improve results and prevent recurrences. The Strong Heart and Vascular Center has one of the largest bases of clinical experience in the placement of intravascular stents in the Eastern United States. We are leaders in the development of stent grafts for the treatment of aneurysms. More about stent grafts for the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms

  • Catheter Treatments - Newer catheter based treatments include dissolving blood clots within blood vessels or obstructed bypass grafts. Nonsurgical techniques allow catheters to be placed directly into a blood clot so that dissolving medication can be strategically administered. When appropriate, associated plaques can be dilated, stented or repaired operatively.
