Bladder Infections (Cystitis)

The urinary tract consists of the organs involved in the production and elimination of liquid waste (urine) from the body: the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra.

Any part of this system can become infected by bacteria, but most infections involve the lower parts, the bladder and the urethra. These infections can be annoying and even painful. But if they spread to the kidneys, they can become truly serious.

Cystitis is an infection or inflammation of the bladder. This is the most common type of UTI.
