Urinary Stones

The urinary tract consists of the organs involved in the production and elimination of liquid waste (urine) from the body: the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra.

Urinary stones (calculi) are exactly what the name implies: hard, rock-like masses made of minerals lodged somewhere in the urinary tract. Usually, stones form first in the kidneys. Then, they may travel through the tract and get stuck in the ureters or bladder. The symptoms and treatment of kidney, ureteral and bladder stones are essentially the same.
