Urology
Urology Residency Training Program
University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry
Program Outline—First Year (PGY-2)
The first year (PGY-2) of training as a urology resident is a mixture of urology and specific general surgery training. Six months consist of Trauma, Surgical ICU, and General Surgery rotations. The remaining six months are on the urology service. The curriculum has been organized to provide focused, more advanced general surgery training that will be directly applicable to subsequent urology training, and to introduce the resident to the basic concepts of the discipline of urology and urologic patient care. While on the urology service, overnight call responsibilities from home are shared with the PGY-3 residents.
