About the Nutrition Edge Program

The Nutrition Edge Program at Highland Hospital can help you learn to eat a tasty and nutritious diet to manage your medical condition or recover from illness. Eating right helps you feel your best.

Nutrition Edge educators are Registered Dieticians (R.D.) who meet with patients on a one-to-one basis. Our dieticians work with you to create meal plans for your special needs.

What To Do To Get Started

You will need a referral from your primary care doctor to get started with the Nutrition Edge Program. Your doctor will let us know about your dietary requirements. Some health insurance plans will pay for the Nutrition Edge services. Check with your insurance provider about your coverage.

What To Expect

The Nutrition Edge Program is located at Highland Hospital. Ask our staff at the information desk in the main lobby for “outpatient registration.” They will give you directions to the Nutrition Edge Program.

At your first meeting, you and an R.D. will talk about your eating habits. Your likes, dislikes and your lifestyle are all considered when developing your meal plans. You’ll learn how food affects your health and will receive an eating plan that is best for you and your condition.

Your visit will last about an hour. You can schedule additional meetings with the Nutrition Edge Program, and often, more than one meeting is needed to help you meet your goals.
